The Dallas Cowboys are over a week into their Oxnard training camp, and spirits are high among the entire team. Both sides of the football team have been competing at high levels, and each day becomes a battle of who will come out on the team. As many would have expected the offensive side of the ball to be coming out on top most days, the defense has steadily been making a name for itself under defensive coordinator Christian Parker. Players such as Quinnen Williams and DeMarvion Overshown have been a testament to why the defense has been playing well, but it has not only been thanks to these two players. Shavon Revel
Dallas needed to improve its cornerback depth after a disappointing season last year, and what Shavon Revel has demonstrated in camp so far appears to be the answer they were hoping for. Revel has the advantage of practicing against arguably the best receiving core in the NFL, which provides him with opportunities to improve on every single snap. A true iron sharpens iron. Luckily for Revel, however, he only has to practice against the likes of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, which has helped him become a standout player and prepare for an important 2026 season for the Cowboys.
Jaishawn Barham
When Dallas drafted Michigan edge linebacker hybrid Jaishawn Barham in the 2026 NFL Draft, the defensive staff had a vision for him, and with Parker in his first season coaching, he was an important draft pick. After what he has shown in Camp Dallas, he would make that draft pick over and over again. Despite suffering a minor groin injury, he continued to make impactful plays, disrupting the run game and excelling in the red zone against the first-team offense. Barham has been making it known to the Cowboys media that his demeanor is strictly business, and seeing that trait in a young player is fantastic. He is only a rookie and might have picked up a small injury, but Barham has made his name well respected in Oxnard.
